Guilt-free in Revelstoke
You know, if I try to go into a long explanation every time I have a massive blog-posting lapse, all my posts will ever be about is why I haven’t posted. Is that interesting? I think not. So, from now on, like my friend Anne, who has a policy of mutual forgiveness for unanswered emails and long gaps in keeping in touch, I think I’m going to adopt a policy of not ‘splaining every time I post after not posting. You can safely assume that life has been busy and posting here has been demoted below things like work, school, and eating or sleeping.
In fact I should be sleeping right now, if not for the fact that I cannot pass up the opportunity to post some photos of lovely Revelstoke BC. I’m here for a week with my job at the museum. For reasons that remain mysterious, but that I was not about to question, they decided to offer me the chance to go on the road for two weeks with a travelling exhibit to Revelstoke and Courtenay.
The problem with travelling is that this trip falls in the middle of my first semester at UVIC. (I’m starting a second degree as of September, to get a BFA in Visual Arts.) So since September I have been trying to get totally on top of work and ahead if possible (it wasn’t). I decided the tour would be too educational to pass up for school, so I would commit to the opportunity and hope for the best. September and October have been a bit crazy as a result. But I’m here, and I think it’s all going to come together.
This is a great way to see a place. If I was just passing through as a tourist, I would never have a chance to meet as many people as I have. Revelstoke is a great town with a sense of community and shared history that is palpable. We have one more day here — tomorrow we pack up and get back on the road.
