An Aside
No, this is not the post of extreme cuteness, I’m afraid I haven’t had a chance to get the photos from Gary to show you. We are off to the airport shortly for a quick trip to Toronto — Gary is getting an award for Astronomy writing, so we’re going out to get it, and visit his aunt as well. We will probably have one free day to do things in Toronto, so if you have any tips, leave a comment!
Gary’s brother and his family are visiting, and yesterday Gary, his brother, and I hiked the Coast Trail at East Sooke Park (Not to be confused with the West Coast Trail!). It was gorgeously routed along the coast for 10 km, mostly up and down bluffs overlooking Juan de Fuca Straight and out to the Olympic Mountains. A spectacular day, weather-wise. I can’t believe we are leaving on the most perfect summer weekend of the year to go to muggy Toronto. The hike was good, but it was a workout for the legs — lots of ups and downs and the trail is often rocky and steep. It took us 6 hours, which is about what we expected. There are some really stunning points along the trail, which you could also get to via the interior trails, so I’m looking forward to hiking out to them again sometime.
See you after the weekend. All you Victoria people — enjoy the gorgeous weather!

Congrats to Gary on his award! I hope you have (had?) a wonderful time in Toronto– it was certainly a beautiful weekend here in Vic. I was thinking about you yesterday (on Canada Day), because we went to Witty’s Lagoon right near your place! So pretty there.
Talk to you soon!
