Sox, Socks, and Slippers

Happy Thanksgiving, all you Canadians out there. I’m adjusting a bit to the seasons here, on my second time through them, but I’m still not into the swing of Thanksgiving in October. For one thing, it doesn’t seem to be a big thing with the Canadian side of the family, so there’s no impetus to gather everyone together. And without the big group, its hard to justify making three kinds of pie.
So, this Thanksgiving weekend we didn’t do anything really in keeping with the holiday. We had intended to test run our new-to-us 1973 Trillium trailer (pictured above, with me pretending to sweep it out). But with rain in the forecast and me feeling like I was catching the cold that’s been going around, we bagged it. Instead we celebrated two other October occasions: the Canucks season opener, and a Red Sox sweep of the LA Angels (of Anaheim).

I finally got around to felting my two pairs of fuzzy feet! The light blue pair are more presentable, and are getting donated. There is a dark blue pair that I’m keeping. Better pics to come during daylight.

Also working on my cabled socks. The short-row heel is still my nemesis. I’ve done this heel three times. The pattern, as far as I can tell, is not the usual short-row heel with the wraps. Maybe its sposed to have these holes, but I think I’m going to look at some other patterns and practice on some scrap until I figure it out. Can’t bear to rip it out again until I know what I’m doing.

Your trailer is adorable! So cute.
There are a number of tutorials for short row heels out there. Here’s my favourite – it has lots of pictures to follow along with:
