Muffins and socks
That’s about the sum total of this week’s creative activity. It’s been a week of work deadlines and schedule juggling. The socks have been my bus ride buddies this week, although I have been ripping and knitting a lot so I kind of end up where I started by the end of the commute. Short-row heels, I will conquer you!
Even though I had to work this weekend, I really needed a little break on Saturday. Gary and I decided to indulge our dreams of getting an adorable tiny Subaru-towable travel trailer by driving up to an RV dealership which had a selection of used Bolers and their Canadian cousin, the Trillium. This one is a 70’s-era trillium. Though we were tempted by the black-light-lit Boler with the tropical-island mural painted on the interior, we are still just dreaming for now.
The RV place was up near Cowichan Bay, so we went over there for a late lunch. I’d never been there before. Its a cute, funky village strung along the water. We ate at a little blue-painted takeout place with picnic tables in front, and picked up a delish loaf of bread at True Grains bakery.
Here’s my obligatory skiff-tied-up-at-dock pic. What I like about this one is that the boat itself is so dented, its as ripply as the reflection.
Today we started the day with french toast (using the bread from Cowichan Bay) and it was down to work for me. Then around mid-day our wonderful neighbor Betty Ann showed up with this gift basket! Wine, some sweets, garlic, some cheese. . . Betty Ann, you shouldn’t have! As if that wasn’t enough, after dinner she shows up with a chocolate zucchine cake topped with some golden plums from our yard. Vat a country!

And Cow Bay! I love Cow Bay! When Jon and I lived in Duncan, our special treat was to head to Cow Bay and go for “Udder Guys” ice cream. Did you check that out? Though I’m glad you got some “True Grains” bread! Yum!
